ON / OFF THE JOB TRAINING

On the job training:
is workplace training, is where you get the opportunity to apply the theory and learn the hands on skills required to work in the electro technology industry.

Because of their diverse nature EGT host contractors can provide all of the practical training necessary to enable every apprentice to realise their full potential.

Over the term of the apprenticeship, EGT apprentices enjoy a wide variety of workplace experiences available throughout the electrical industry. This can range from domestic installations including various facets of cottage work, new work, repair work or extensions to heavy industrial work to switchboard manufacture and installation.

Communications and cabling skills are also made available as are the diverse range of skills associated with the commercial sector of the industry. At EGT we pride ourselves on being able to offer training experiences to all of our apprentices, which are second to none.

These work experiences are recorded over the term of the apprenticeship and are made available at the completion of your training.

This then becomes a reference guide for future employers.

Off the job training:
Is competency based and integrated into a workplace training arrangement. Training involves one day a week over a college year, or it might involve block training of up to eight weeks over the college year. Attendance at off the job training components provides essential skills and is compulsory for all apprentices.

EGT has established effective links with the College of Electrical Training and selected Public Providers.  Depending on the college selected to deliver the off the job training, our apprentices can attend training for up to three years. Applicants who have a pre-apprenticeship, previous study or related experience and training may receive recognition of prior learning towards their college studies.
