Italian Australian Apprentice of the Year Awards 2011

In December, the Italian Australian Apprentice of the Year Awards celebrated their 20th anniversary of the awards which recognises and acknowledges young West Australians of Italian background within vocational trade apprenticeships.

Electrical Group Training apprentices Corey Bertolini and Justin Casella were nominated in the Electrical Mechanics and were among the 58 finalists who were honoured at the Awards evening.

The comprehensive selection process consisted of 8 categories which included an interview using the criteria, personality, citizenship value and affinity to Italy, maturity, vocational dedication and rudimentary knowledge of the Italian language. The overall winner is provided with the opportunity to participate in a four week work experience programme in Italy in their chosen vocation.

In previous years, Electrical Group Training has been successful with Nathan Villani and Andrew Madaschi winning their categories in 2008 and 2010 respectively. Both experience the trip of a lifetime in Italy.

This year Corey Bertolini won the Electrical Mechanics category.

We congratulate Corey and Justin for their efforts.
