EGT is the largest employer of electrical apprentices in Western Australia and produces the best trained apprentices and trainees in the electro-technology industry.
Since 1988 EGT has provided a consistent supply of high quality, skilled employees to meet current and future labour and skills needs.
As a not-for-profit group training organisation, EGT employs and trains apprentices and trainees within the electro-technology industry and places them with a variety hosts for an agreed period in order to gain a wide range of on the job experience.
Electrical Group Training provides opportunities to build life long careers, while delivering host employers with low risk, flexible, hassle-free employment solutions.
Commencing with just 12 apprentices, EGT is now the largest employer of electrical apprentices in Western Australia with over 700 apprentices working across a range of areas.
As the employer of choice for the electro-technology industry, EGT’s employees include:
- women in non traditional roles;
- apprentices and trainees from non English speaking backgrounds;
- out of trade apprentices; and
- adult apprentices.
Over 280 host employers provide EGT apprentices and trainees with on the job training. Host employers are generally small businesses employing less than twenty employees, who benefit from the straight forward employment arrangements offered through EGT.
Off the job training is delivered by the College of Electrical Training and various TAFE colleges to ensure apprentices and trainees continually enhance their skills.
EGT apprentices also benefit from supplementary training in areas such as:
- checking and testing;
- instrumentation;
- programmable logic controllers;
- estimating and tendering; and
- elevated work platform training.
All electrical apprentices are trained and issued with a Safety Awareness Card (Bluecard) and are afforded the opportunity to obtain an ACA open cabling registration. |
